The genesis of the NsC arose out of conversations the Kitchen had with congregational partners who historically had been providing food and volunteers to the Kitchen’s feeding program. These generous partners understood that just providing food to the hungry isn’t enough, if it were, the Kitchen wouldn’t be serving 120 people per night 365 days per year.

Eager to take their congregational mission work to a new level they created the Northshore Caucus and adopted the Cook County clinic campaign as their first foray into community organizing. The Caucus will lend its resources and relationships with key decision makers to support Northside POWER’s work. Already, Caucus leaders have testified at County budget hearings and have met with county commissioners.
